Watching an Indian erotic movie was one of the funniest experiences of our trip. Zuza wasn’t let in to the cinema so I was obligated to do this cultural observation by myself.

Adventure begun in village Allepey where we saw this amazing statue of “Buddha” with big boobs:)



We noticed that there was a small cinema and a crowd of guys on a square behind the statue. When we were entering the square someone from the street said “be careful sir; it’s a bad movie”. Nothing was more interesting at that time than checking what the “bad movie” is about.

I paid 15 rupees (about 25 Eurocents) for the ticket. It was definitely worth it even thought I saw only 15 min of the movie. I couldn’t stop laughing all the time.

The movie was made about 15 years ago, had very bad montage, terrible music and more “scenes” that a plot. But those “porn scenes” looked not more abusive that regular erotic fragments of western films. Although it wasn’t a nice view because all girls were fat and guys were old, it was extremely funny to watch.

These kinds of porno cinemas exist only in small towns of India, where there is no broadband Internet or western movies. Showing here “Basic Instinct” (pl. “Nagi Instynkt”) with Sharon Stone will be for those guys the most erotic experience ever.

Hurry causes worry so go slow (Cochi, Allepey, Varkala)

“Hurry causes worry so go slow” says the motto of Kerala or rather signs on the local roads but we treated this tip seriously. In the past few days we were both quite weak after food poison or anti-malaria medicine’s side effects (or both) but we had so much fun anyway.

We took a train from Goa to Kerala. Try to imagine the whole India squeezed in a box. Easy? Noise, dirt, bad smell, music, children, beggars, vendors of every single thing you don’t need, from tchai, tchai, tchai, coffee, coffee, coffee (the most annoying song that echoed during the whole journey) to plastic lizard toys, beach balls, towels etc, this is an Indian train. So we took the train to Kerala, visited Fort Kochi and saw the famous Chinese fishing nets and then we headed south to the backwaters.

The backwaters of Kerala are often compared to Venice (mind you, Udaipur is called like this as well) just because the area is full of canals. We took a little boat trip (not a houseboat which was too expensive and perfect for a honeymoon perhaps) through the small canals which gave us the opportunity to observe some wildlife but also to see the local people daily life. Everything seemed so quiet and peaceful; we were both amazed by the shades of green that surrounded us through the whole trip.

Now we are in Varkala, spending our last days at the beach and looking at the sea from the cliff.

On the beach (Arambol, Colva)

So here we are, on a beautiful beach in Goa.

Today we woke up in a small bamboo hut surrounded by palm trees. We are in Arambol, a small hippie village on the north of the state Goa, historic Portuguese colony. As only I will find a good computer to upload some photos we will show you how beautiful it is here, couse words are not enough.

Five days later...

We are still in Arambol. Fortunately it wasn't malaria or ameba that made us staying here longer. Zuza has found her paradise on the beach, where she is spending most of the time. I am doing a 5-days yoga course. I wish I had my kite or windsurfing equipment cause conditions are not bad. Again we have a good international party crew (Chile, Spain, Holland). Unfortunately the Internet connection is so slow in our village that we can't upload photos but just imagine cows and kitesurfers on the same beach:)

Back to backpacks

Healthy in mind and body after yoga course we can continue our trip around the India (honestly, we gonna make a circle!) Meanwhile we did a crazy road trip in Goa on a moped and we went to an amazing concert of Prem Joshua (our new musical discovery, mix of indian music and lounge). We are spending one night in a turistic town Colva and tommorrow (Thursday 21st) we are taking a train to Kerala, state on the very South of India.

Bollywood world (Bombay)

Indians love kitsch. The best place to see that is cinema. We went there two days ago in Bombay.

Movie industry in Bombay, called Bollywood is a huge business . Since 1931 there were made more than 67000 films! A typical movie from Bollywood doesn’t have much of a plot, but instead actors are singing and dancing. There is always love (but no kissing!), there always have to be bad and a good character.

“Halla Bol”, the movie that we saw, shows a world of a Bollywood superstar. He is surrounded by luxurious cars and beautiful girls (often white cause white skin in India is a symbol of a better world) and he lives in a million dollar villa in Bombay. It’s significant fact that 55% of people in this city live in slams but Bollywood movies of course don’t show poverty.

When we left the cinema and I saw families going to sleep in their cardboard boxes on the street I felt like I’m in a different world. Indians are watching beautiful and colorful Bollywood images just to escape from their reality.

Bye bye Rajasthan (Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur)

The past few days were quite relaxing. We went for a camel safari in Jaisalmer (the yellow city), it was cool although camels are not the most comfortable animals to have a ride on. Anyway, it was fun, though we didn't see the sunset at the dunes nor the stars at night time because it was way too cloudy. We had two meals there at the dessert prepared by our guide and driver (you don't want to know how they cleaned our plates…) The driver by the end of the evening was quite drunk so we had an exciting way home in a jeep.

After Jaisalmer we took a bus to Jodhpur and then to Udaipur where we finish our stay in Rajasthan. On this way we managed to collect our little rainbow of colorful cities (Jaipur - pink, Jaisalmer - yellow, Jodhpur - blue, Udaipur - white). Unfortunately, we are facing some problems with uploading pictures so you cannot see places that we've mentioned so far. Andrzej will try to add pics to this article later on.

Udaipur is just charming, with its famous lake and a lake palace in which James Bond "Octopussy" was shot. It's quite a peaceful place with relaxing atmosphere and great views. And for the first time since we arrived in India it's really hot and sunny all day long.

Today we will be on a road again, this time to Mumbai. Only 16 hours by bus (the train is already sold out) and there is supposed to be a highway although we probably don't want to know what this word means in Indian circumstances. We will see.

On the road (Agra, Jodhpur, Pushkar)

India brings too many stories and not enough time to write about them.

So far we made it to Pushkar, a charming small town with a hippie-hindu atmosphere. We don’t have plenty of time here cause tickets to next city are already purchased. Anyway we are relaxing and curing cause we both have a little cold after crazy New Year’s Eve party (it was wicked by the way)

We spent previous days in Agra and Jaipur, city of contrasts where cows are passing by in front of Lacoste store. First take a look at new photos from Delhi in the previous post, than see that Indians can be also rich.

Taj Mahal, highlight of every trip to India, is amazing without any doubt. This extravagant monument shows how crazy guys can be if they fall in love. Taj was made by Shah Jahan as a memorial of his wife Mahal in the XVII century.

In a small city called Fatehpuhr Sikri I’ve found my “Afghan Girl”. The photo below shows an Indian version of a famous National Geographic’s photo. Although I would be cheating if I write that I found that girl in a crowd, I’m proud of this shotJ. The truth is that she wanted me to take a photo and than she asked for baksish. That’s a typical style of bagging in India.

During our trip we’ve met cool travelers from Australia, Italy and the States. Today we take together a night bus through a desert to Jaisalmer on the northwest of the country.
